Polixeni Stathopoulou, Born in Patras, Greece, Lecturer, Research area «Speech Signal Processing».
Education:
B.Sc. in Physics, University of Naples, Italy (1975).
PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Patras (1989).
Professional Experience:
She has over thirty years of Academic and Research Experience.
1975-1989: She worked as a teaching assistant in the Wired Communications Laboratory, Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, University of Patras.
1977-1983: She worked as a part-time researcher at Padue University, Padue, Italy,
in the Electrical and Informatics Department, Padue Polytechnic School (Universita degli Studi di Padova) and
in the Phonetics Institute, National Research Center (CNR), Padue.
1989-2005: She worked as a Post-Doctoral lecturer and reseacher, in the Electronics & Computers Division, Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, University of Patras.
As a Research Scientist in charge she has directed and implemented several, European Union funded, projects (HORIZON, PEP, KEK, EPEAEK).
1992-today: She teaches at the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Patras, as a part-time lecturer, courses in the area of Information Technology.
2006-today: Lecturer in the Electronics & Computers Division, Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, University of Patras.
Research Interests:
Her research interests focuses to the following areas:
Digital Speech Signal Processing and Coding,
Extraction study of Speech signal parameters,
Speech Applications on Man Machine Communication Systems,
Speech Communication Interfaces & Speech Synthesis Technologies,
Design methods of phonetic transcription in Text-to-Speech Synthesis,
Speech and Sound Technologies in Multimedia Systems and Internet Applications,
Data and Knowledge Based Systems
